June 5, 2017 - Countdown to Summer! . . .

Father's Day Newsletter

After one of the wettest rainy seasons in recorded history, the weather here on the farm finally started to dry out. Even though the ground was too wet, we worked hard to get it adequately tilled, got the tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers all planted, and as of Friday, most of the seed crops sown. Although we are a couple of weeks later than average, we have faith that we will have productive harvests this fall. After all, isn't this the essence of gardening and by extension, farming?

“Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up

      where no seed has been,

I have great faith in a seed.

Convince me that you have a seed there,

and I am prepared to expect wonders.”

~ Henry David Thoreau

As noted in our last newsletter, we can really use your help. Most people agree that the variety preservation work that we do is important. And as a subscriber to our newsletter, you are keenly aware that we can only continue this mission with the support that your orders provide.

If you have already ordered this season, thank you! Your support is greatly appreciated and it will not be squandered! Along with helping financially, with the help of supporters (customers) like you, we have compiled a list of ways that you can help further this work with very little time or effort. You can read more about these ideas by clicking here. THANK YOU!

Act Now ... 2017 Sweet Potato Sales Ending Soon! If you have space and want to try your green thumb at raising a pile of fresh, homegrown sweet potatoes, you still have time, but you will need to act quickly! Most companies have already closed sales for the year. Our supplier has allowed us to continue to offer you folks plants but only until June 21st!

Sweet potato plants can ONLY be sent to U.S. Postal Service mailing addresses within the Continental United States. We are able to send plants to all of the lower 48 states, including our friends in California, but are sorry to report that they cannot be shipped to Hawaii, Alaska or internationally.

It is not too late to order your seeds!  With gardens planted and early season crops already being harvested, if you discover that you have a bit of extra space and want to fill it, we can get you your seeds quickly. For the remainder of the month, we are still fully staffed in the seedhouse and are currently getting orders filled and mailed in one to two business days. Often, on the same day (depending on how early our mail carrier arrives). [Ordering Tip: To prevent shipping delays, double-check your information before submitting your order.]

Save 5% off of the seed packet portion of your order by entering save5in17 into the "Apply Coupon" field while viewing your cart. For instructions on how to use the coupon code, Click here.

Don't forget to check out all of the new additions for 2017 - You can easily find them all listed under the "New for 2017" category or by Clicking Here. Some varieties are old family heirlooms whose protection and public introduction are at the core of our organization's mission.

About Our Work:  If you have read our mission statement, you know that we do not exist as a business that simply sells seeds. As a mission-driven organization, seed sales fund our plant variety preservation work and help to keep rare, heirloom and open-pollinated varieties available to gardeners. We are different from other seed companies in this way. Thank you for your continued support.

We really can use your help ... Please DO forward this email to all of your gardening friends and family. Your word-of-mouth recommendations help us to keep these rare seeds available to gardeners and is our primary form of advertising.
